Branford Firefighters Raise $4,000+ for St. Baldrick's

Several Branford firefighters have a freshly shaved head thanks to their efforts to raise money for St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Over the past few weeks, seven members of the Branford Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2533 were busy collecting pledges to shave their heads to raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. On Friday, the clippers came out and 135 heads were shaved at the event, which was held at O'Toole's Irish Bar in New Haven.

The Branford team – which included John Cudgma Jr., Mike Stackpole, Tim Judd, Jeff O'Connor, Craig O'Rourke, John A. Cudgma and John Coughlin – raised more than four times its goal of $1,000, coming in with a fundraising total of $4,152.

"We, unfortunately, did not beat Guilford but still met our goal and raised way more than we thought we would," said Cudgma Jr., who noted the event as a whole rained close to $75,000.

If you missed your chance to donate to St. Baldrick's this time around, don't worry – Stephen Perrotti is hosting another event coming up on March 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Italian American Club in Branford.
