Branford Fire Department Helps Neighbor in Need

As a community service, Branford Fire Department installed smoke detectors for a elderly woman.

Last week the reached out and assisted one person in the community who had no smoke detectors in her home.  An elderly resident was concerned that she did not have any devices and called the Branford Fire Department for assistance. Captain Judd received her inquiry about installing some smoke detectors in her home. 

She mentioned, that since seeing the  in Stamford it has weighed heavily on her mind knowing that she did not have any in her home.

Captain Judd offered to provide her two brand new smoke detectors for her home. He told her that he, along with the crew of Engine 1, firefighter Eugene Hayes and firefighter/paramedic Jeff Mark, would come out and install them in the proper areas of her home.  She was very thankful that the members of Division 1 came to her home and did such wonderful work. 

Captain Judd informed her that the Smoke Detectors given to her were those purchased buy the Branford Professional Fire Fighters Local 2533  with monies that are donated to the Union during it’s yearly Fund Drive and are to be provided to residents in the who cannot afford to purchase them.
