The Branford Fire Department and Branford Rescue 1 responded to a car accident on Tuesday afternoon as an SUV crashed down an embankment on North Main Street.

The following was posted on Branford Rescue 1's Facebook page

"Members operated on North Main Street for a vehicle off the road this afternoon. Rescue 1 with assistance from Engine 1 established a low angle rescue system to assist the patient up the hill to the awaiting ambulance."

The Branford Fire Department also responded, posting this on its Facebook page:

"Firefighters responded to North Main St near #205 for this Motor Vehicle accident late this afternoon. The car in this picture [see attached] went off the road and down an embankment approximately 30 feet. The driver was injured and transported to Yale via Medic-1. Also saved by firefighters was a pet hamster..."

North Main Street was closed and according to Rescue 1, "members are also babysitting a second passenger while its owner is evaluated at the hospital."

Later that evening, Branford Rescue 1 extricated an uninjured person who was stuck in an elevator.

Well done Branford Fire Department and Branford Rescue 1
