Barefoot Man Allegedly Breaks Into Store, Sustains Foot Injuries

The East Haven man linked to the alleged crime was found in the bushes outside the business.

Yesterday at 4:18 a.m., responded to 251 West Main St., when a business's alarm was tripped.

Captain Geoffrey Morgan of the Branford Police Department stated that police arrived to find the front window of the business broken and blood was visible on the broken glass and inside the shop.

Using Neeko, the police dog, with handler, Officer David Atkinson, Morgan stated that a bag of cocaine was found inside the business.

Neeko then followed a scent outside and police discovered Eugene Myrick, 29, of East Haven crouched in the bushes. Morgan reported that Myrick, who was barefoot, had sustained cuts to his feet. 

Myrick was treated at an area hospital and police were able to link him to the break-in, according to Morgan.

Myrick was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing and possession of narcotics. He was held on $10,000 bond and was due in court today.
