Police: 84-Year-Old Driver Strikes 84-Year-Old Pedestrian in Big Y Parking Lot

Elderly shopper at Big Y sustains injuries after driver allegedly strikes him in parking lot.

An 84-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while walking to his car in the Big Y parking lot Monday afternoon, according to police.

Branford Police Officer Mike Amarante told Branford Patch that on Monday at 3:35 p.m., an 84-year-old female driving a sedan allegedly struck the man when she was driving north out of the parking lot and he was crossing the parking lot with his cart.

Amarante did not state if the pedestrian was traveling in the crosswalk.

The male sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility by Branford Fire Department responders for further evaluation and treatment, Amarante said.

He added that no citations were immediately issued at the scene.
