Sharing Thanks and Love

As Valentine's Day approaches, the students at Pine Orchard Nursery School are enjoying making projects with doilies and heart cut outs of construction paper. The teachers at PONS do many crafts and projects to tie in to holidays (such as some very clever pop-up groundhogs for Groundhog Day!), but one of the most impressive to me as a parent was the food drive conducted at the end of November.

The students brought in 85 pounds of food to donate to the Branford Food Council, which was delivered by student Ariana and her mom. And Tessa and Jacob, who missed out on the delivery, wanted to learn more about how the food pantry works. So a few weeks later, the pair went with their mother on a tour of the pantry -- showing that what gets learned in school can go beyond the building and right out into the community.

Thanks to all the PONS parents who helped their kids donate this impressive amount of food!
