Revolutionary Branford

What was Branford like during the American Revolution?

Happy Fourth of July!

For the last two Saturdays, I've had the good fortune to go to local history museums -- the and, this past weekend, the Nathan Hale School House in New London. (I've written about that trip here.) The visits -- and the holiday -- got me thinking: what was Revolutionary Branford like? How did our early colonists view the American Revolution?

There is not a lot available on the subject, but Jane Bouley of the Branford Historical Society has very graciously loaned me some notes she's been compiling, so I should have some great tidbits for you next week. In the meantime, what do you know about Branford's Revolutionary history? What do you imagine about how Branford handled the eight-year Revolutionary War?
