A Community Gallery: The Annual Parade and Tree Lighting

Your photos and stories wanted.

I remember attending my first parade and tree lighting in Branford last year. I was relatively new to town and getting ready to launch Branford Patch just two weeks later. I attended the event as a dry run – what would covering the news and events of Branford be like?

I was overwhelmed by how awesome the event was. Each float was better than the next and the holiday cheer was over flowing. Music and sparkling holiday lights set the tone for the evening as children rode high above the crowds on a parent’s shoulders trying to get the best view of Santa. I felt as though I was in the 1950s and I would suddenly wake up and find none of this was real. But the holiday spirit is real during Branford’s annual events and the true meaning of the season – community and family – is never more evident than on this occasion.

I am such a fan of the event that this year I’ve secured a spot in front of where I’ll be passing out !
