Lost Dog at the Supply Pond

How one dog going missing unities the walkers at the Branford Supply Ponds.

The Supply Pond is a place that I can say I honestly know like the back of my hand, and so do my dogs. Say the words "" to my dog Lucky and he'll bolt to the door, thinking he's going for a walk.

After school I persuaded my mom and my brother to take a short walk with me through the trails. "A woman just told me that someone lost their Chihuahua," my mom said as we briskly paced along the creek. "A big dog chased it off."

Soon we came across a woman who looked slightly frazzled. Her eyes were red and she was carrying a dog leash, except there was no dog to be found. "Are you that dog owner?" my mom asked. She [Kelli Jones] nodded and told us that a giant poodle came and chased her dog, Dee, off. After telling us where she last saw Dee, we continued walking, spastically shouting for the dog.*

A couple minutes we came across another woman, who immediately asked us if we found Dee. No, we replied.

Then a boy on a bicycle zoomed by us. My brother shouted to him, "Have you seen a Chihuahua?" He replied also no, but told us some other stuff he had heard.

Soon we were at the scene of the missing dog–the giant tree in the middle of the park where all the big trails meet. There was no Dee to be found but we had talked to tons of people who were clued in to the "Dee Situation." It seemed the whole park was on the lookout for Dee.

The Supply Ponds, for me, are one of the only places in town where perfect strangers not only say hi to each other but help each other look for their dogs.

*After posting this blog, Kelli Jones, owner of Dee provided a photo of her missing dog and more information: Dee weighs 7 pounds, has tan markings on her face and a brown spot on her butt. She was wearing a pink and white polka dog collar with tags and a purple harness. If anyone has seen her, please call 203-623-2623 or 203-823-1202.

What do you guys think about the Supply Pond? What other parks do you like?
