Local resident Andrea Macnow has received statewide recognition for her community service activities. Macnow, a grants development specialist at Bridgeport’s Housatonic Community College, was nominated for the 2012 Community Service Special Award for her efforts on behalf of the Milford Animal Shelter last year. She coordinated a food and supplies drive for the Milford Animal Shelter in August. Macnow was recognized by the state Office of Financial and Academic Affairs for Higher Education at a ceremony at Central Connecticut State University last month. Macnow, along with other volunteers, stood outside the Milford Wal-Mart to collect items for the shelter’s food bank. In just four hours, 20 shopping carts were filled to the brim and $300 in cash was collected. The shelter, which provides aid to pet owners in need of assistance for their pets, was overwhelmed by the public response. Macnow’s commitment to helping animals continues. In December 2011, she conducted another drive for the Branford Animal Shelter. Through her efforts, over $250 in supplies were donated to the shelter.

Our dining experience at Sea Grass was very poor. We were not greeted promptly, the service wasRead More slow, our drink order was wrong, salad stale, very small entrée portions, limited menu, and very overpriced. McDonalds is better.
