Legal Gun Owner Does Not Mean Automatic NRA Member

Simple enough: Just because a person has a legal firearm in their possession does not mean they have fealty to, nor allegiance with, the NRA.

The NRA does what it does and that's it. *shrugs* I know about the NRA. I've interacted with the NRA. But I am not a member thereof.

Like millions and millions of others, a person can actually be a legal, Constitutionally-protected, and well-trained firearm owner in America who is not part of the NRA. Shocker there, I know. But true nonetheless.

Consider this if you would-

Number of Privately Owned Firearms:
The estimated total number of guns held by civilians in the United States is 270,000,000 to 310,000,000

NRA Membership according to Wayne LaPierre Jan 2013:
“It’s an honor to be here today on behalf of more than 4.5 million moms and dads and sons and daughters, in every state across our nation, who make up the National Rifle Association of America. Those 4.5 million active members are joined by tens of millions of NRA supporters.” — National Rifle Association chief executive Wayne LaPierre, testifying before Congress, Jan. 30, 2013

Crunch the numbers, folks. There are more gun owners in America than NRA members. And if you want to say each NRA member has multiple guns, meeting the number given of gun owners, then this means each NRA member has 60 guns each. Doubtful, that.

Spare yourself the work of trying to pigeonhole each gun owner in America as a card-carrying NRA member. It just ain't plausible.

PS: The NRA did not murder those innocents in Sandy Hook. Adam Lanza did. And now he's dead due to a gun shot.
