Jake was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia or "ALL" when he was 9 years old. He still has over a year of treatment to tolerate before being done. Jake's mom, Christine, is a hard working single mom. Even with her insurance, Jake's prescriptions are maxed out. She now pays out of her pocket for some of his extremely expensive life saving medications from June to December.
We feel the need to help out any way we can and hope YOU DO TOO! Stop by Studio B Brow Bar and Body Studio at 131 Montowese St., Branford on Aug 10 at 5 p.m., have a cocktail and nosh on some fantastic "picky food" prepared and donated by some great local restaurants while getting a $10 manicure and a $1/min massage. (All proceeds to be donated to Jake and Christine).
Thanks to the gracious nature of clients, friends and local businesses, there will be many beautiful themed baskets, gift certificates, quilts and show tickets (more added weekly) all to be raffled off to raise money for Jake.
Jake truly is a trooper. He has already endured, in the last couple of years, more then anyone ever should in a lifetime.The chemotherapy side effects have hit him hard. Jake lost his hair twice, and struggles with exhaustion, nausea, vomiting , bone pain, headaches, trouble walking, etc. He had a port, placed into his abdomen in order to administer his chemotherapy treatments and in months to follow had numerous bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures to access his progress.
Given all this, Jake has an amazing outlook on life and lives each day with a positive attitude. He lives like a survivor. Even though some days are harder than others he doesn't let cancer stop him from playing his favorite sport, baseball.
