Branford Scavenger Hunt is Fun Way to Spread Holiday Cheer

Nate Morrison is giving back to the community he calls home, and he's hoping you'll join in the fun this Saturday, Dec. 21.

What started out last year as a group of friends' fun way of giving back is growing into a yearly way to spread holiday cheer in Branford.

And you won't want to miss out on the fun—and your chance to help neighbors in need. Here's the scoop about the toy drive, as provided by the event organizer, Nate Morrison, a 2012 Branford High graduate:

  • It takes place on Saturday, Dec. 21
  • We are setting up at 10, and we will be collecting from anyone who wants do donate.
  • We are going to have cookies and brownies and other snacks set up, along with hot chocolate and apple cider.
  • From 10 to 1 is really just a hangout period, last year we walked around a little bit saying hi to everyone in town, kids came up and ate snacks, it was really fun.
  • The scavenger hunt takes place at 1, so anyone who is participating should sign up before hand
  • The scavenger hunt will be around the town of Branford, and we will be handing out packets of things to search for that have different point values. For example, something like take a picture with 3 statues will be less than something like bring back a disposable coffee cup with a business logo signed by an employee.
  • The hunt will end at 3:30, giving the contestants a 2.5-hour window, and must be back before 3:30. The top 3 teams will receive a prize, of which we haven't determined.
  • Teams of four are allowed, and the "buy in" for it is a new present from each member.
  • Also, as a bit of added fun, me and my friend dress up as mr. and mrs. clause, to make it more festive.
