On Saturday January 5, 2013, Don was struck by a car while he was walking home from work.
Don sustained serious injuries including a cracked spine, broken bones, and injured internal organs. He has had surgery on his spine and as of January 10 remains in the SICU at Yale New Haven Hospital.
