CANCELLED: MAS Presents Laid Back Jazz Quartet at Tabor

CANCELLED!  Sorry folks, but the weather is bad, it's still snowing, the roads are slushy and the temperature is forecast to be below freezing tonight, so we have to cancel tonight's Musical Art Society of Branford concert featuring David Mix and the Laid Back Jazz Quartet and the WIS Jazz Band led by Carol Titcomb.  It's just too dangerous for families that have to drive a distance in unpredictable weather on potentially icy roads.

Please help us get the word out.

We will definitely reschedule and let you know the new date as soon as arranged.

The Musical Art Society announces its free March 8 concert featuring the Laid Back Jazz Quartet at Tabor Community Arts Center (Tabor Lutheran Church), 45 Tabor Drive in Branford, beginning at 7:30.

The Laid Backs include Sal Caruso on guitar, Bill Groth on piano, David Mix on bass and Rich Calitro on drums.  This quartet regularly performs at Old Saybrook's Paperback Cafe, playing a quiet, casually sophisticated jazz with vocals that brings listeners from all over the Northeast.  Branford's own David Mix is also known locally as an experienced luthier specializing in double bass repairs.

Carol Titcomb, Musical Art Society member and music teacher in Branford, will open the program with her Walsh Intermediate School Jazz Band.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Musical Art Society is a non-profit cultural arts group founded in 1920, presenting several free concerts in the community each year and awarding an annual music scholarship to a graduating high school senior planning to study music in college.  New members and sponsors are welcome.  Information:  musicalartsociety@snet.net or Barbara Shaw (203) 481-2819 or Carol Titcomb (203) 488-3088.
