UPDATE at 11:50 a.m.

It's still a bit early in the day to get a true sense of overall voter turnout here in Branford this Election Day, but if morning tallies here at Mary T. Murphy School are any indication -- it could be a strong showing by the time polls close at 8 p.m. tonight.

Election workers told Branford Patch voting has been steady and brisk there since the polls opened at 6 a.m. this morning.

As of 11:45 a.m., 442 of the 6th District's 2,594 registered voters have already cast their ballots. That's just shy of 17 percent.

"It's been steady," Dorothy Stenger, the district's polling moderator, said.

And the voting has been progressing smoothly.

Branford Patch will post additional updates.

And don't forget to leave your own notes, observations and thoughts on this Election Day!

[Editor's Note: This update originally reported the D-6 polling location as Walsh School. The correct location, Murphy School, has since been edited and added.]
