2013 Voter Registration Deadlines

If you haven't registered to vote for the 2013 elections, here's what you need to know.

By Patch Editor Corey Fyke

Don't look now, but Election Day 2013 is less than six weeks away!

This year, Connecticut will be holding local elections, and it's time to start thinking about registering to vote. Here are the deadlines you need to know:

In-Person Registration

  • If you want to register to vote in person with your local registrar of voters, it has to happen by the seventh day before the election (Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013).
  • Many local registrars extend their office hours just before the deadline, or open on the Saturday before. Check your town's website or local Patch closer to the deadline for more information.

Absentee Registration

  • You can apply through the mail to register to vote beginning on the 31st day before an election — in this case, Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013.
  • If mailed, the application must be received by the 14th day before the election (Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013).
  • To download the form from the state Secretary of the State's Office, click here for English or here for Spanish.
