While many towns – including Branford, North Haven and East Haven – have chosen to postpone trick-or-treating to Nov. 7, Halloween is on in North Branford with the Connecticut Sportsplex hosting a Trunk-or-Treat event starting at 5 p.m. tonight.
State Rep. Vincent Candelora, whose family runs the Sportsplex, is happy to offer this option to residents and those in surrounding communities.
"Our neighboring towns are welcome, too," said Candelora. "Just bring candy and kids."
Don't know what Trunk-or-Treat is? People pull into parking spaces with the trunks of their cars facing out and kids can go from car to car 'trunk'-or-treating. You can deck out your trunk with Halloween decor or just bring your candy to hand out.
Cars can start filling up the parking lot at 5 p.m. with the Trunk-or-Treat starting at 6:30 p.m. The fieldhouse will be open while the cars line up. Kids can enjoy the playscape and pizza, hot dogs and sodas will be available for $2.
"We just wanted to provide a place where everyone can enjoy Halloween in a safe environment," said Rep. Candelora.
And don't forget, Patch's Best Halloween Costume Contest (in America) is underway so be sure to snap those photos and upload them to the gallery for a chance to win $5,000.
