Happenings: June 18 - 24

Summer's in full swing. Let's look beyond graduation.

After the Branford Festival, after graduation, summer is finally going strong. It's time to get outside: the beach, the park, the trail. If you're a fan of the latter, head out to West Point Field Saturday afternoon for the on the Vedder/Goss/Trolley Trail.

And fireworks are this weekend, too: Saturday, Friday 23 at Branford Point. Fireworks are sponsored by the Branford Fireworks Committee, and music will be provided by the Branford Town Band.

But if, like me, you need at least a little time to stay in and nurse your sunburns from the Branford Festival, there's plenty to do in the area. On Wednesday night, exhibition curator Erin Monroe will present an overview of painter Andrew Wyeth: Looking Beyond, currently showing at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford. So you can get a little art appreciation in without having to go far!
