Do You Have Your Tickets for Branford Chamber of Horrors Halloween Bash?

Get your costume together for this Friday's adults-only Halloween party.

Think all of the Halloween fun is just for kids? Think again as the Branford Chamber of Horrors Halloween Bash is hosting a “NYC style Halloween bash” just minutes from home.

More than 200 are expected to haunt Consign and Design Shoreline (616 Main Street, Branford, the former Hilltop building) this Friday, Oct. 19 from 7 to 11 p.m. where there will be food, drinks, dancing, a costume contest and more.

“It’s new and different,” said Susan Mullane, co-chair of the event. “There are a lot of Halloween parties for children, but there’s not too much available for adults. This is a 21-and-over event with a full bar so it makes it a little different as there won’t be kids around. People can be themselves – or get dressed up into anybody they want to be.

Cost for the event is $30/person, though if you’re not in costume, you will also be asked to make a $10 donation to BranfordCares.org. Your ticket includes food catered by Nellie Green’s and desserts from the Parthenon, one drink ticket compliments of the Cork Shop, a chance to win the Counselors Cup for best costume and a $25 gift certificate to Verizon Wireless Zone (valid toward accessories or phones).

Though this is the Branford Chamber’s first Halloween bash, Mullane doesn’t plan on it being the last.

“We’re hoping to make it an annual event,” said Mullane. “The Counselor’s Cup has at least six slots for people’s names when they win [the costume contest] so we’re looking at least the next six or eight years – plus we could always add name plaques to the other side of the cup.”

Mullane, who chairs the events with Chris Hausman, gives a lot of credit to the planning committee, which also include Jules Buckly, Jennifer Higham, Shannon Beth Engravelle, Robin Sandler, Dave Minicozzi, David Carswell, Patty Broughal, Christopher Guandalini and Susan Finkle.

“The committee has a lot of energy and talent,” said Mullane. “Jules [Buckly] is with Magenta Party Planners and she’ll be doing the decorating. She has some fabulous ideas that will make this special and Patty [Broughal], who owns Shoreline, has some great pieces to incorporate, too.

Though tickets are selling fast, Mullane says there’s still time to get your ticket – and your costumes.

“We’re hoping the whole community gets involved, as well as those from surrounding towns – it’s going to be appropriately scary and a good time,” said Mullane, who already has her costume. “I won’t be wearing a mask, but I won’t be telling people what I’m going to be dressed up as. It’s going to be a surprise.”
