Update Contamination Closes Branford Point for Swimmers This Week

Contaminated waters have shut down the public beach from Saturday to Tuesday and possibly longer.

Contamination was listed as the reason swimming was not allowed at since Saturday at noon.

Branford Parks and Recreation Director Alex Palluzzi stated that bacteria levels were higher than normal since last week but on Saturday at noon, they were deemed too high for swimmers to use the water.

Palluzzi said that Branford Point may re-open Tuesday at noon but that would be the soonest and it's possible it could be closed even longer.

Stony Creek Beach is open to the public and is safe for swimming according to Palluzzi.
