“We are currently analyzing the conditions,” said Connecticut Light and Power spokesman Mitch Gross of the power company’s substations in Branford and Stamford.
The Branford substations, located on East Main Street and Meadow Street are the intersection of power for the town as well as surrounding towns, said Gross. “We are paying very close attention to the situation there,” said Gross. The worst case is that CL&P could have to shut them down, said Gross.
The substation serves 11,000 customers in Branford and the surrounding area.
A spokesperson for CL&P said in a press conference today, that they are not sandbagging Branford's substation but are looking to bring in a portable substation.
At this time, Gross said it all depends on the Hurricane. “We are watching it very, very closely.”
If the power is shut down, Branford Patch will be informed, Gross said.
