The Father's Day Road Race has wrapped up and runners are recovering on the green to the music of California Dreamers. Branford residents put in a great showing: 18-year-old Kevin Gell finished at 28:01, placing him second in his age group, and Branford girls dominated the Under-12 category, taking all the first three spots. (Congratulations to Sarah Gillis, Stephanie Sullivan and Daly Hynrs!)
Returning to the front of the pack this year was New Rochelle's Mathew Kiplagat, 29, with a time of 24:41. Kiplagat is a veteran winner of several marathons, including the Branford Road Race and the ING Hartford Marathon.
