Believe it or not the “holidays” are upon us! They come in slowly with Halloween – a low maintenance event for many, requiring just a bowl or two of candy – and then the season builds as Thanksgiving approaches. If you’re not one of those people who has already started and finished his or her holiday shopping, we’ve got a list of fun things to do around town this week to help you keep putting off the inevitable. Happy holidays procrastinating… just don’t wait until the day of Halloween to buy your candy and wonder why you’re stuck handing out your spare change instead.

Last Friday, by more than 35 scarecrows decorated by area businesses and organizations. The Branford Garden Club has organized the event to raise money to replace town trees lost during . You can stop by the green anytime to make a donation with a Garden Club volunteer. If you take pictures of the scarecrows, please share with Patch! E-mail nicole.ball@patch.com. The scarecrows will be up through at least this Friday, Oct. 14 but could stay up longer.
