Wireless Zone Partners with Toys for Tots for the 2013 Holiday Season

This holiday season, the ten Wireless Zone stores in Eastern Connecticut are partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Annual Toys for Tots Campaign to help deliver new toys to less fortunate children in the community. There are collection bins for local donations in each store.

Toys for Tots is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise funds and toys for children during the holidays. As one of the top rated charities in the United States, ‘over 97% of donations go to the mission of providing toys, books, and other gifts to less fortunate children.’

The success of the campaign is dependent on local business’s hosting the toy drives, and more importantly, members of the community dropping off new, unwrapped toys in the collection boxes. Coordinators then pick up the boxes, and the toys are organized based on age and gender. Local organizations such as Young Marines, church groups, local welfare agencies and etc. assist with the distribution process.

As leaders in the local business community, Wireless Zone-Verizon Wireless is dedicated to the cause. For everyone who donates a toy this holiday season, Wireless Zone will give you a free pair of headphones for your donation! “My son is 10 and watching him open his presents on Christmas morning is the highlight of my holiday season. We want to be able to give less fortunate parents and children the same opportunity through Toys for Tots,” says Neil Ryan, owner of Wireless Zone.

Nearly 22% of children in the United States are living below the poverty line and desperately need community participation in order to make their holiday season a little brighter. In 2012, Toys for Tots donated over 15 million gifts to more than 7 million children. This year, Wireless Zone and Toys for Tots are partnering together to encourage toy donations, such as books, backpacks, board games, electronics and etc.
