New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine Relocates and Expands Services

Pet hospital moves to larger, more convenient location, changes name

New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine has expanded to meet the needs of its patients and pet owners and moved to a new location at the Crossroads Medical Center in North Haven.

“The initial driving force behind the relocation was our clients’ need for more medical services,” said Kenneth Aldrich, hospital administrator.  “While the expansion is designed to advance patient care, the new building offers additional comfort and convenience for pet owners.”

With a new location also comes a new name, as the hospital has reopened as Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine following the move into its new home.

The larger building allows Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine to offer additional medical services, including ophthalmology and canine rehabilitation, with space that includes 12 exam rooms, six operating rooms, an intensive care unit and more.

The hospital’s new site also improves the pet owner experience with significantly more parking, a large waiting room plus kids’ area and a convenience space with refreshments.  The Crossroads Medical Center in North Haven is located off exit 10 on I-91, highly accessible from I-95, I-91, the Merritt Parkway, I-84 via 691 and Route 80. 

Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine offers emergency care, critical care and surgical services 24 hours a day, seven days a week and includes the following services:

·        New: Ophthalmology

·        New: Canine rehabilitation, including underwater treadmill

·        New: Minimally invasive surgery

·        New: I-131 treatment for hyperthyroid cats

·        New: Blood bank

·        Internal medicine, dermatology, behavioral health and acupuncture consultations

·        Endoscopy, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy, colonoscopy

·        Stem cell therapy

·        Orthopedic surgery, including tibial plateau leveling, total hip replacement, total knee replacement and total elbow replacement

·        Radiology services, including x-ray and CT scans, inpatient and outpatient ultrasound

·        Telemedicine for referring veterinarians

·        Physical therapy
