Brandfon Honda Dealership to Install Solar Panels

The system will produce 155,000 kilowatt hours per year, offsetting approximately 70 percent of the total annual electrical usage of the dealership

Branford, CT –Brandfon Honda recently began installation of a 140 kilowatt system featuring 560 solar panels and 5 state-of-the-art, grid-enabled inverters to generate electricity for the dealership.

Brandfon Honda is one of the first automotive facilities in the area to engage in the solar panel project.

The system will produce 155,000 kilowatt hours per year, offsetting approximately 70% of the total annual electrical usage of the dealership.

By using this green technology, it is estimated that the clean energy generated from the system is equivalent of planting 55 acres of trees or removing 3,250 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere over the life of the project.

This project secured a 15-year contract with CL&P through the Zero Emission Renewable Energy Credit (ZREC) program.

The solar panels are being installed by independent local contractors.

As part of its ongoing “green initiative” Brandfon Honda already utilizes waste-oil furnaces to assist in heating of the facility, has installed a natural gas filling station for the use of the natural gas powered Honda Civic, and has begun to install more energy efficient LED lighting around the facility.

Brandfon Honda, located at 515 West Main Street in Branford offers the full line of Honda vehicles as well as certified pre-owned cars and trucks. Contact the dealership at 203.481.1616 or www.brandfonhonda.com.

I'm impressed with Brandfon reducing it's Carbon Footprint and commitment to keeping their workforce in Branford. We have 3 Honda Fit's in my family. They all run on gas, but are very efficient vehicles. We love our Honda's!

How much of our tax money is being spent for this?

I think solar panels actually can really help save energy. I've been considering getting some myself. How much do you think it costs to get them installed? http://www.nsesolar.com.au/about-us/
