Report: Branford Costco Development Plans On Hold

The project's forward momentum has stalled as those involved focus on addressing the concerns of adjacent property owners, zoning and wetlands issues and other items related to the proposal, according to a New Haven Register report.

A proposal to develop a new Costco retail center off Interstate 95 in Branford "is indefinitely on hold," according to a New Haven Register report

The project's forward momentum has stalled as those involved work to "tie up loose ends" such as concerns of adjacent property owners, zoning and wetlands issues and other items related to the proposal, The Register reports.

Although the latest plans to develop the center near Leetes Island Road were first discussed several weeks ago at a Planning & Zoning Meeting in mid-November, the proposal to build a Costco off Exit 56 has been around for more than two years.

According to The Register report, majority property owner Charles Weber stated the plans introduced at November's P&Z meeting were "inaccurate and should be disregarded."
