Let’s Talk About Breakfast

There are many great places to have breakfast here in Branford.

The weekend is finally here! Why not enjoy breakfast out one morning this weekend? Here are a few suggestions. I have listed weekend hours for your convenience.

Debbie’s Daily Dose of Food for Thought

After a busy week, it is nice to slow down and not rush around as much. Consider this quote by John Gunter, “All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast.” Then, plan to start your weekend mornings in this manner and see how much happier and more relaxed you are!

Open 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.; cash only

This restaurant has been serving breakfast to Branford since 1890 and has been at its present location since the 1970’s. So, if you love breakfast foods and would like to see what’s happening downtown, head to the Green and have breakfast here!

Open 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday; credit cards accepted

If you prefer just baked goods for breakfast, stop in at Cheri’s. They have donuts, muffins, breads, Danish and so much more. Yum!

Open Saturday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., closed Sundays; credit cards accepted

Meadow Muffins is another restaurant in town serving breakfast but they also have soups, in case you are in the mood for that instead. If you like soup, check out Victoriaanna’s recipe for soup. I made it last night and it is delicious!

Open 24 hours/day; credit cards accepted

You can order breakfast any time day or night at the Parthenon. So, if you have had a hectic week and really sleep in, you can have breakfast any time you feel like it!

Shoreline Cafe has the BEST breakfast burritos...many different varieties including egg whites w/veggies(my favorite) for those trying to maintain a healthy diet !

I have always enjoyed breakfast at these restaurants. Additionally, I recommend the Stony Creek Market, especially when it gets warmer and you can sit on the deck overlooking Stony Creek Harbor and the Thimbles. I recommend their "HEC" (Ham, Egg and Cheese on a cibatta roll) if in doubt. Another factor making the "Market" a fun place for breakfast is the quality of the staff. They are very courteous and attentive, but not overbearing.

Peter, I too agree that staff can make the meal! I love the staff and the hearty bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches at Main Street Lunch. Not sure what they do, but they taste like heaven. By the way, does anyone know more about this property from a historical perspective? I love the exposed brick and the fact that you can see it was painted over the years and stripped. http://patch.com/L-gPCc

Let's not forget Scotty's Breakfast Connections, downtown Branford. the girls there serve up some fine omelets, and pancakes with a smile!

I love Stony Creek Market, too! I could sit looking at the water all day! We have many, many great places to go to for breakfast, and other meals as well.

Scotty's is the place! They have no problem with special orders and joke and laugh and the open counter harkens back to diners where counter-mates knew each other's name and developed relationships. My mom loves their butterscotch pancakes.

Oh, yay, Debbie - you made the soup! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the reference as well.
