There's no doubt that you’ve noticed the Stop & Shop gas station quickly being erected at 104-106 N. Main St. Company spokesperson Arlene Putterman said as long as weather permits, they are set to open the five-dispenser station with 10 pumps as early as March 7 at 8 a.m. – now it’s just a race to see if Branford’s newest butcher, The Meat House will open across the street at the same time (they just put up hiring signs in the windows).
According to Putterman, the new gas station will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday – Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Customers can purchase candy, chips, gum and cigarettes in the kiosk as well as auto supplies such as windshield wash and motor oil that are located outside the kiosk.
The fuel station offers 10 fueling pumps, each with a pay-at-the-pump feature. Stop & Shop gift cards can be redeemed at the fuel station, said Putterman. Through Stop & Shop’s Gas Rewards Program, each dollar spent shopping with the Stop & Shop card earns the user a point; every 100 points saves 10 cents per gallon at the pump. Customers, said Putterman, can earn points through “bonus” point items that are promoted in Stop & Shop circulars and in-store, Peapod by Stop & Shop home delivery purchases and purchases at any Stop & Shop pharmacy (with some exceptions).
Putterman said there are 31 Stop & Shop fuel stations in the state and this Branford’s first.
