Guilford Savings Bank joined the Branford community formally in 2001 when it opened its branch office on North Main Street.  In recent years, the bank chose the Branford office as its business center, beginning with a remodel to create a more business-friendly environment in late 2011 and early 2012.  The focus created an open space where business clients could find solutions from various banking specialists, all under one roof.  Currently, the Bank’s business and commercial lending department is based out of the Branford branch office.

Incoming President & CEO Tim Geelan received the award on behalf of the Bank.

“Small businesses are the heart of our community,” expressed Geelan as he accepted the award.  “Our job is to help small businesses succeed with our expertise, products and services.  Even today, community banks are the source of 60 percent of small business loans of less than $1 million, so we’re a very real part of how local businesses get what they need.”

The award was presented by Joe Gordon, Branford’s Economic Development Chair and James Cosgrove, Branford’s First Selectman.

Past recipients of the award include Alcoa Howmet, Blakeslee Arpaia & Chapman, CAS Medical, Cintas Corporation, Harco Labs, Massey Glass, and Shore Publishing/The Sound.
