Branford Police Seek Witnesses After Two Pedestrians Struck In Kohl's Parking Lot

An 88-year-old woman struck two pedestrians, including one in a wheelchair, this morning in the BranHaven Plaza parking lot.

Branford Police officers are actively investigating two pedestrians, one of which was in a wheelchair, that were struck by a vehicle just before 11 a.m. today in the private parking lot at 1075 West Main Street.

At this point police know that a vehicle operated by Lura Ellsworth, 88, of Soundview Heights, Branford, was traveling toward the exit near Short Beach Road when her vehicle struck Christin Langlois, 37, of Plant Road, Branford, who was being assisted in her wheelchair by Kendra Geraci, 32, of Stone Ridge Lane, Branford.

Both victims were treated by Branford Fire Department paramedics and transported immediately to an area hospital.

“One of the victims sustained major injuries.” said Lt. Kris Hormuth, who is supervising the investigation. Lt. Hormuth continued, “We are using both Officer Jay Kaufman and Bret Johnson, who are the department’s accident reconstruction officers to piece together evidence and statements to determine the facts and circumstances of this crash.”

At this point, no one has been charged in the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information should contact either Officer Kaufman or Johnson at the Branford Police Department immediately at 203-481-4241.

According to the Branford Fire Department's Facebook page, Medic 1 and 2 responded to the "very serious motor vehicle accident with their team doing "a masterful job packaging, treating, and transporting the victims. The driver of the car was also checked but did not want further treatment."
