Best Value Inn Evacuated As Precautionary Measure

From BPD's Capt. Morgan: "We are assisting Hamden PD at the motel [America's Best Value Inn]. They have someone inn custody for a bank robbery that has ties to the hotel. We have Rte 1 closed at NE Industrial Rd to Sycamore Way. They have CSP ESU and FBI assisting them."

There has been a police presence at America's Best Value Inn in Branford since just after 3 p.m. The hotel is located on the corner of Leete's Island Road and Route 1 near Chowder Pot.

A suspect was arrested in Hamden. He had been staying at the hotel and reportedly discussed explosives.

As a precaution, Branford Police have evacuated the hotel and state officials will be inspecting one of the rooms.

The roads in the surrounding area have been closed.
