Thousands of Connecticut Residents to Get Insurance Rebates This Summer

Those who bought insurance under the new federal health insurance programs will get, on average, $168 each.

Some 47,000 residents in Connecticut will get health insurance rebates averaging about $168 each this summer because the federal government says they overpaid on their premiums.

The rebates are coming to those in the state who buy their health insurance from the state’s individual and small-group insurers under the Obama Administration's Affordable Care Act, according to the Connecticut Mirror news website.

In all, the rebates will total $5.6 million and are the results of overpayments the federal government says residents paid toward administrative costs of their insurance.

The rebates will range from $64 back for individual policy holders to $357 for those who bought through the state's group market, the website reports.
