  • Why Go: Get your weekend started on a healthy note in this Yoga class led by Nelie Doak. Yoga promotes a deep sense of physical, mental and emotional well being. Classes are designed to help cultivate breath and body awareness, improve flexibility, strengthen and tone muscles, detoxify your body, and soothe your spirit. All levels are welcome.   • Where/When: Register at the Shubert Theater, 247 College St., New Haven. The event takes place from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4.
  • Why Go: More than 20 shops and boutiques will participate in the third-annual “Flights of Fancy,” downtown New Haven’s popular wine tasting and shopping. The event, sponsored by The Wine Thief and the Shubert Theater and presented by the Broadway and Chapel Merchants Associations, features in-store wine tastings, special discounts and extraordinary giveaways.
  • Pricing: A registration fee of $10 includes an exclusive Flights of Fancy wine glass, map of participating shops, entry into the grand prize drawing, free parking (at The York Street Garage, 150 York St.), trolley rides (to shuttle participants between the shopping districts throughout the evening), coffee and dessert. During the event, participants will be able to sample fine wines courtesy of The Wine Thief, 181 Crown St., and receive 25 percent off their favorite item at participating stores in the Broadway and Chapel shopping districts.   • Where/When: AMF Circle Lanes Bowling Center, 525 Main St., East Haven, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5.
  • Why Go: The event is in memory of Branford High graduate and volunteer firefighter Aedan Bloomquist. Last year six graduating seniors of Branford High School were presented with scholarships in Aedan’s name; funds raised this year will help more local students.   • Why Go: To complement the opening of the Yale-China Association Exhibit, the museum will be offering arts and crafts activities and workshops that celebrate Chinese culture in New Haven. The event is designed for children ages 4 and up, and their parents. Refreshments will be served.

  • Why Go: Get outdoors, run or walk and support a great cause. The event supports IRIS—Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services, whose mission is to help refugees and other displaced people establish new lives, regain hope, and contribute to the vitality of Connecticut’s communities.
  • Pricing: $16/$22.

  • Where/When: Lyman Orchards, 32 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, and Sunday, Feb. 6.
  • Why Go: Children will love dressing up as a Lyman Orchard baker to decorate a special heart-shaped Valentine’s cake with lots of delicious sweet icing, candies, and more. This fun, hands-on workshop is located in the Apple Barrel Bakery. Parents are welcomed to watch and assist, if necessary.
