Musical Art Society Scholarship Applications Due

The Musical Art Society of Branford is now accepting applications for it’s annual scholarship given to a Branford, CT resident who is a high school senior planning to major or minor in music in college next year.  Applications are available from Susanne Lendler Marsh at sflendler@aol.com or from Cathyann Roding in the Branford High School music department.  Applications must be returned by January 20 to Susanne Lendler Marsh, 12 Linden Shores, Branford, CT 06405.

All applicants will participate in a scholarship audition performance to be scheduled in early February.  They will perform for members of the Musical Art Society, who will assess the performance based on skill, musical expression, technique, dynamic range, intonation, entertainment value and stage comportment.

A scholarship winner will be announced in late February.

The Musical Art Society of Branford is a non-profit cultural arts group founded in 1920 whose mission is to support and promote excellence in music in the community.  A scholarship fundraiser was held at the Blackstone Library this past November featuring a variety of violin performances entitled “Fiddle 101” and the proceeds from that concert will be used for this scholarship.  For more information about the club, contact Barbara Shaw, president at musicalartsociety@snet.net.
