The New Haven Museum and Music Haven are pleased to present a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Starting at 6:00 pm at the New Haven Museum, children and their families will be able to make masks, a tradition common in many South American countries. At 7 pm, the Haven String Quartet will present “Immigrant Voices from South America,” performing the music of Paquito d’Rivera (Cuban), Conlon Nancarrow (Mexican), Osvaldo Golijov (Argentinian), Gabriela Lena Frank (Peruvian), and Javier Alvarez (Mexican). Suggested donation: $15. Kids 12 and under are free.

The New Haven Museum is located in downtown New Haven at 114 Whitney Avenue. The Museum was founded in 1862 as the New Haven Colony History Society by a group of leading New Haven citizens who were determined to preserve the history and traditions of the Greater New Haven region. Today, the New Haven Museum continues this tradition of preservation with a collection that includes folk, decorative and fine arts, an extensive photographic archive, and a unique manuscript collection.
