Erin Monroe, exhibition curator, will present an overview of Andrew Wyeth: Looking Beyond, on view at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. This exhibition explores the poignant imagery and masterful technique of one of the twentieth century’s most celebrated artists. This talk will explore Wyeth’s use of windows and open doors as symbolic passages and his use of different media—pencil, watercolor, and ink— offering greater insight on his process. Former shoreline resident and Branford High School alumna Erin Monroe is Assistant Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture. She holds a B.A. in art history from Northwestern University and completed her graduate studies at Hunter College (CUNY), with a concentration in twentieth-century American art.
