Crafts, Exercise and Exotic Creatures

Patch has some ideas for things to do with the kids this weekend.

1.  Crafts at the Library

  • Get creative with the kids and for all ages. Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

2. Go for a Family Bird Walk

  • The sponsors a free walk for families that focuses on the birds and wildlife found in East Rock Park. Walk begins at the covered bridge by the parking lot next to the Eli Whitney Museum in Hamden. Bring binoculars, and wear warm clothes and boots. Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m., free.

3.  Go Ice Skating

  • Public Skating at Northford Ice Pavilion (24 Firelite Place, Northford) Saturdays 3:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. and two sessions on Sundays: 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. $7 adults and kids includes skate rental

4.  See Exotic and Tropical Creatures in Madison

  • at St. Andrew’s Church, 232 Durham Rd. (Rte 79), Madison. Presented by Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo. Saturday, 10 a.m., free admission, public invited, appropriate for all ages.

5.  Climb a Wall

  • The has Family Open Climbing with the gym staff.  All ages and skill levels are welcome. Saturday 10 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
  • Each session is $20 per participant or get a 10 visit punch pass for only $180.
