Branford's Nadia Bowers Performing In Westport

She's playing opposite three-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch in Westport Country Playhouse's production of Molière's Tartuffe

"I knew her when," is what many locals are saying about the success of Branford actress Nadia Bowers. Nadia is now playing opposite three-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch in Westport Country Playhouse's production of Molière's Tartuffe, which began performances on July 17.

Bowers credits her passion and love for theater to Cathyann Roding and Toni Cartisano of performing arts where she got her start. You might reconignize her from BHS's West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, or Guys and Dolls.

Since her days in Branford, she has gone on to earn a B.A in Sociology and French from Dartmouth College in 1995 and her M.F.A from NYU's Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts. She has chartered a career in the arts that many only dream of.

This is how Westport describes the famous play: "Orgon has fallen under Tartuffe's spell, the most saintly man he's ever known. But Orgon's family believes Tartuffe a fraud, out to steal his wealth, bed his wife, and wed his daughter. Will Orgon come to his senses before it's too late? The stage is set for a battle of wills in a wickedly funny and farcical take on the outer limits of hypocrisy that has entertained audiences for years." David Kennedy directs the classic story which stars Marc Kudisch, Mark Nelson, Nadia Bowers, and Patricia Conolly.

Due to popular demand, Tartuffe recently extended its run and will play its final performance this Saturday. Performances are at 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, and Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 3 and 8 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets start at $30 and are available at 1-888-927-7529, or online at www.westportplayhouse.org.
