Who was Mary T. Murphy, and what is the history of Murphy School?

When I visited Mrs. Tobin's class last spring, one of the most fun things was hearing that not only did the students already know a lot about their school's history, but in previous years, students had actually compiled a whole book about Mary T. Murphy and how the school came to be. Mrs. Tobin very kindly loaned me a copy, and I'm looking forward to reading it.

While I study what the kids already knew, what can you tell me about Mary T. Murphy and the ? If you attended there as a child, did you have any favorite teachers?
