Job Alert: Town of Branford Seeks Director of Public Works

The Town of Branford's Human Resources Department is currently recruiting for the position of Director of Public Works, a full-time position with a $80,944 to $97,630 annual salary.

Essential Functions The purposes of this position are to develop, manage, administer, supervise and direct the programs and activities of the Public Works and Solid Waste and Recycling Departments in the functional areas which may entail road and sidewalk construction and maintenance; storm water systems maintenance and construction; tree work and road side mowing, street signs, snow operations, fleet operations, Solid Waste, Landfill and Recycling Operation etc. The Director of Public Works is required to exercise considerable independent judgment in administering and managing the departments and is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.
 
Qualification Requirements;
The qualifications required would generally be graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, engineering, construction or related field and more than 5 years of experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience in public works, solid waste, utilities, engineering or any combination of experience, education or training that demonstrates the applicant has the leadership competencies necessary to fulfill the job requirements
 
Selection Process: Formal application; oral interview and reference check; job related tests may be
required.
 
The Town of Branford reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be considered for the
position.

The files of all qualified candidates will be maintained for a minimum of six months from the announcement date, and the qualified candidates will be considered for the same or similar positions which may become available during this timeframe.

All candidates not employed by the Town of Branford, prior to employment, must successfully pass a post-offer medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test given at the Town's expense.

The Town of Branford has implemented a policy of comprehensive background investigations for positions to be completed prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for candidates not already employed by the Town. The investigation may be conducted as the last step prior to an offer. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate from further consideration.
