Hurricane Sandy Relief: Donate Baby Items for New Jersey Victims

My husband Joseph Ball has talked about the Jersey Shore since we met more than seven years ago and not the “Jersey Shore” you see on TV. He talks about his Jersey Shore, the place where he grew up and the place that someday we’d take our son.

While we still have plans to take our new son on his first trip to the boardwalk to enjoy the sand, surf and waves – a treat for myself, a native New Englander who only knows the placid waters of Long Island Sound – the recent affects of Sandy on that once vibrant shoreline have him concerned and that’s why we’ve decided to help.

In partnership with Joe’s high school friend, Danielle Gletow - Founder & Executive Director of One Simple Wish, a nonprofit helping foster children and vulnerable families – we will be collecting items for babies and families affected by Sandy. Gletow is collecting goods through her nonprofit for an offshoot called Hope & Help for Victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Baby supplies such as food, pacifiers, new onesies, diapers and wipes are needed. – All used clothing is appreciated but not being accepted by One Simple Wish at this time.

We felt compelled to help because we couldn't imagine what we would do if we lost all the items that help us care for our son. 

Please stop by Town Hall Drive, 1019 Main Street, Branford this Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to drop off items.

All goods will be donated through One Simple Wish to communities from Toms River to Hoboken and beyond, according to Gletow.

One Simple Wish has been recognized by the American Red Cross for relief efforts. All donations will benefit not only American Red Cross shelters but shelters throughout NJ; if you can not drop off items for babies this Saturday, please feel free to donate online through One Simple Wish or the American Red Cross.

The goods will be transported to New Jersey just before Thanksgiving. Thank you in advance for your donations.
