Branford Awarded $500k Grant For Public Restroom At Stony Creek Beach

The money will go to acquiring 202 Thimble Island Road.

This week, Gov. Dannel Malloy announced that Branford will receive a $500,000 grant to acquire a building that will be turned into a public restroom for Stony Creek Beach.

The grant, which comes through the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), will allow the Town of Branford to purchase 202 Thimble Island Road, which is located across from the town beach. The building will be turned into a public restroom, as well as possibly an information center, according to a press release from the governor's office.

Local officials were overjoyed with the announcement.
