Saturday April 27th is going ti be an amazing day in Branford, and the weather looks to be really co-operating as well. Partly Cloudy and about 70 Degrees. Very nice.
Starting off at 9AM for registration, The Community Dining Room will be holding their 10th Annuak Shoreline Walk-a-thon, and leading the charge, uhm, walk, will be WTNH's and Branford Resident Chris Velarde. This is a major fundraiser for the CDR, and considering the fact that they provide over 4K meals a month, they need all the help they can het. Once you are done wallking for the cause, just stay right on the Branford Green, as this will be the location for some major happenings. First, The Branford Early Childhood Collaborative wraps up the National Week Of The Young Child. Featured events starting at Noon with the construction of a cardboard replica of the town. They will also have music by Tackle Broadway, and the Pre-School Art Walk will be going on all over Main Street. And speaking of Main Street.
Saturday is National Cash Mob Day! What's a Cash Mob? Well, it's a way to celebrate our small local business. Multiple business are voted on, and the winner gets to be the focus of an effort to get as many people to come to that store, and spend some money and get some savings. Totally Awesome Goods won the Branford contest. However owner Jay Alpert has decided to invite all of Main Street to join in. And join in they did. Over 20 stores will be offering discounts, and giveaways. What's even better, there will be a "passport give away". When you check in at Totally Awesome Goods at 11AM, pick up your passport, and visit 12 of the 20+ merchants who are participating, have then initial your passport, and drop it off by 5PM. Jay will then pick not one, not two, but three, count them, three lucky winners. And no. you are not getting a cupie doll. The three winners will each receive a "bag-a-swag" stuffed with over $340 worth of gift cards and gifts. Not to shabby.
