Noted Comic-Book Illustrator Dean Haspiel To Speak at HCC Tuesday, 4/23 at 1 p.m.

BRIDGEPORT -- Emmy award winning artist Dean Haspiel, who writes and draws superhero and semi-autobiographical comics including Spider-Man, Batman, and X-men, will discuss his life and art Tuesday, April 23, at Housatonic Community College. Haspiel, who created the Eisner Award-nominated Billy Dogma, has illustrated for HBO’s “Bored To Death.” His credits include a residency from The Corporation of Yaddo, winning the “6th Anniversary Literary Death Match,” becoming a Master Artist at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida, speaking about independent comic art at The Library of Congress, and teaching comic-book storytelling. The talk will being at 1 p.m. in Room A101 in Lafayette Hall on the HCC campus. The event is free and open to the public. HCC is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. In downtown Bridgeport, less than 150 yards off I-19 and Rte. 8, a block from the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. The event is free and open to the public.
