EastShore Region Adult & Continuing Education Accepts $20,000 Donation from ATT Connecticut

(January 29 2014)- AT&T Connecticut today announced a $20,000 donation to The Eastshore Region Adult & Continuing Education Program for the purpose of funding college and career readiness classes for underserved students and scholarships for those who complete an adult high school credit diploma program and choose to pursue advanced education.

State Representative Lonnie Reed and State Representative Pat Widlitz encouraged ERACE to apply for the AT&T grant

ERACE's mission is to provide comprehensive and responsive opportunities for all adult learners who seek academic and personal growth, supported in a professional environm ent to meet diverse student needs.

ERACE's Transition to Post-Secondary  Program is designed to provide students with the requisite skills required to be successful in the post-secondary program of their choice. In the Transitions class, students will learn college vocabulary, how to navigate the college system, the application process, and about financial aid.

Students in the Transition to Post-Secondary  Progra m will also learn to write a resume and cover letter, are taught soft skills and have the opportunity to participate in a job interview with a member from the Branford business  community.

 

"This donation will create opportunities to support high school completion courses for students to prepare them to enter post-secondary education ," stated Paul Dzialo, Director of The Eastshore Region Adult & Continuing Education Program. "AT&T Connecticut' s contribution is great news for our students and we certainly appreciate their generosity."

"The ERACE program does a spectacular job of educating young people who are hungry for knowledge and eager for opportunities. This generous grant from AT&T will help make it possible for deserving students to earn valuable degrees and pursue rewarding careers." stated Representative Reed .

The ERACE program provides that opportunity to our constituents and we are most grateful to AT&T for making this possible by providing such a generous grant!" stated Representative Widlitz.
