Community Foundation Grant Strengthens VNA of South Central CT's Position as the Region's Safety Net

New Haven (December 10, 2013) – John R. Quinn, President & CEO of the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut (VNA/SCC) serving the Greater New Haven area, announced that VNA/SCC has been awarded a multi-year grant from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to be used for general operating support for community health and home care services.

The multi-year grant has been awarded in the cumulative amount of $150,000 for 3 years with $50,000 to be disbursed per year. Funding was made possible through The Community Foundation’s Jennie C. Bronson preference fund established in 1976. It will enable the organization to expand its technology to continue provision of high-quality care to uninsured/underinsured patients, and assist clinicians in communicating quickly and providing efficient care.

“The Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut is very appreciative of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven for its support. Our intention is to apply this funding to our safety net and quality improvement program to expand technology and ensure more efficient communication. Having experienced several severe storms in Connecticut over the last few years, VNA/SCC understands the value of maintaining connectivity to physicians, hospitals, and patients at all times. The Foundation has a long history of working as a community partner with the VNA/SCC and therefore helps us meet our mission to provide the best care to every patient every day!” commented VNA/SCC President/CEO John Quinn.
