Comedy Writing Class for Grades 5-8 at Tabor Community Arts Center

A new class, "Tuesday Afternoon Live: Sketch Comedy Writing and Performing," is now being offered for 5-8th graders at the Tabor Community Arts Center (TCAC) After School Arts program. The class will give students an opportunity to write a series of comedy sketches, individually and as a group, and create a "live" show comprised of their sketches (the show will be videotaped at the end of the class session). Basic props, costumes and sets will be utilized. Comedic improvisation will be explored throughout the course and encouraged during the show's recording. Skills learned during the course will include using comedic timing, crafting jokes and punch lines, and writing for the performing arts. This TCAC After School Arts program class runs on Tuesday afternoons from January 14th to April 8th.

TCAC features after-school programming for students in grades K-8 focused on the creative arts, music, dance and drama. Rotating classes taught by visiting artists, writers and other professionals are part of the TCAC curriculum. School bus transportation is available from all Branford Public Schools. For tuition information and enrollment in a TCAC class, please contact Susan Suppe, Executive Director, by phone at 203-488-5668 or email at tabor_arts@yahoo.com.
