United Methodist Church Welcomes Reverend Jackson

The located at 811 East Main St., (Rt. 1) in Branford, welcomes the Reverend Kent F. Jackson as its new Pastor. UMC’s congregationconsists of members from all shoreline communities from East Haven to Madison.

The Church also administrates the for parentswho want their children to begin life surrounded by the love of God in a safe, fun andeducational environment.Pastor Kent is coming home to Connecticut after obtaining substantial educationand experience in Pennsylvania, Missouri, and New York. In the past, he has alsoserved as Pastor at United Methodist Churches in Naugatuck and North Haven.

Pastor Kent is 46 years old. He and his wife, Anne, have two children: a son who is 10 yearsold and a daughter, age 7.

Since his arrival on July 1, Pastor Kent has deliveredsermons marked by adherence to Scripture, engaging testimony, and well-placedhumor. He spends a bit of time with the children during every service making Sundaymorning meaningful for everyone from 1 to 100 years old.

Outside of family and Church, but not the Lord (needing His help on the course), Kent enjoys golf. Having attended seminary in Kansas City, MO he is a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals eliminating any controversy in the congregation regarding their leader praying in support of the Patriots, Giants, Yankees, or Red Sox! He also plays trumpet and loves to sing.

When asked what his plans are, Pastor Kent stated that he is looking forward to developing relationships with everyone currently attending UMC, Branford as wellas meeting people in the community interested in getting closer to God.

The Churchhas many ministries reaching out to help people locally and globally. Pastor Kent willbe getting involved. He looks forward to leading Bible Studies, leading (Wednesday morning) Chapel at Learn & Play, and connecting with everyone over coffee and snacksat the social fellowship time after service every Sunday. Stop by any Sunday at 9:30 AM (June-August) and 8:30 and 10:30 AM (September-May), hear Pastor Kent speak, find some peace and love, have a cup of coffee and recharge.
